Positive Business Aspects of COVID-19 That You May Not Be Aware Of

The global COVID 19 pandemic that is transforming the way we live, earn and socialise, is doing so in small, definitive steps. If we study these steps individually, we will realise that there is a positive side to all that’s happening currently. They are sure to improve the business environment in the long run.

At the apparent surface, COVID 19 is dangerous and dark. We see its effects each day as death tolls mount, stock markets collapse, companies shut down, jobs are lost, and the economy as a whole is in turmoil.

But if we scratch beneath the surface and change our perspectives, towards all the good lined up, we see many positive results of this pandemic.

Diversification and Innovation

Enterprises have taken the opportunity to diversify into fresh business avenues while strengthening their current ones. Innovative approaches to deal with the lockdown have led to expanded and specialised home delivery, online consultancies and multiple channel customer support initiatives.

Companies have also streamlined their processes, overcoming complicated hierarchical policies and speeding up things to deliver more promptly. These are all right moves that will continue to play a role in boosting the business environment, over the next few years.

Pollution-free and Sanitized Environment

Whether it’s your immediate home or office environment or the in the context that describes the world around us, it’s all headed in the right direction. Clean, hygienic public transport systems, better roads, sanitised buildings and de-cluttered offices with social distancing rules could be here to stay.

Healthy habits of regularly washing hands and not littering, eating, drinking or smoking in public are more than welcome. We may have begun practising them in fear of coronavirus infection, but if continued, they will help curb many other illnesses, allergies and social malpractices.

Battling air pollution is a significant expense and has many economic consequences. Pollution and traffic have been known to cause many disruptions in business. Breathing in unhealthy air slows down employees. Motivation levels are low, productivity suffers, and the entire business scenario is affected. Fresh, cleaner air is good for the body, mind and believe it or not, the economy.

Better Time Management

There are a host of factors that point to why we have much more time today than we ever did. Firstly, travel is minimal. Even if we are travelling, due to lesser traffic, we don’t spend as much time on the roads. Second, our social activities have been forcibly reduced. These changes have resulted in more precious hours spent on work, either at remote working jobs or even in offices.

Many companies in the past have suffered from hours and money lost in employee commuting. Expenses incurred in hiring or purchasing cars, paying for fuel, drivers, air tickets and hotel rooms can now be saved or cut entirely.

Technology-led Activities

Utilising technology is an opportunity not only for those using it but also for the Indian IT industry. IT Infrastructure Services and IT Systems to pump up companies’ online presence, connectivity, strength, and security have become vital. SME’s offering these services have expanded opportunities due to this need.

Enterprises even need sound technical platforms to support work from home employees. Cloud-based systems that can be accessed from multiple locations are being set up and used.
