When Doormint was started by founders Abhinav Agarwal and Naman Lahoty as an on-demand laundry services startup, they made all the right noise. Originally launched in Mumbai first, Doormint was able to raise $3 million from Helion Venture Partners and Kalaari Capital as well as bring a part of the first batch of Google Launchpad Accelerator, an initiative for mentoring startups and providing equity-free support. However the company has ceased all its operations as on Sep. 20 and officially bid goodbye.
Doormint had seen a 45 percent month-on-month growth and handled about 500 orders a day. About 1.2 million orders were also processed by them in their 2 years of existence. When asked about the primary reason for their failure, the co-founders said that it was about the difficulty in scaling up, while giving consistently good value to customers.
